Celebrating curiosity, creativity, and real-world problem-solving in Uvalde County.
The Uvalde County Science Fair Pilot—serving Uvalde County, a rural region in South Texas—is an early initiative hosted by Nueces Innovation Labs. The program is designed to explore engaging, community-connected science fair experiences for elementary students.
The pilot is planned for Spring 2027 and will be open to K–5 students from public, private, and home-based learning environments.
How the Pilot Works
Student Experience
Students will have the opportunity to investigate questions that interest them and present projects that demonstrate curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. The event aims to create a welcoming environment where students can celebrate science, share ideas, and learn from one another.
Community Engagement
Community members may participate as mentors and volunteer judges, helping encourage students and offering real-world perspectives connected to science and innovation.
Future Learning
This pilot is designed to generate actionable insights that inform future science fair resources and programs, enabling schools and communities to expand hands-on STEM learning. Findings will guide efforts to strengthen participation and foster deeper community engagement in science education.
